At the official launch and fundraising drive of the Kanyeihamba Foundation at Imperial Royale hotel last Friday, Uganda’s Finance Minister Hon. Matia Kasaija praised Prof. Kanyeihamba for his patriotism, humanity, boldness, and the golden heart.
With hundreds of guests in attendance, Kasaija appealed to Ugandans to always fight hard and emulate the professor as a way to leave an everlasting legacy.
“I commend Prof. George Wilson Kanyeihamba’s contributions to the country, and I encourage you to adopt healthy lifestyles, ” Kasaija said.
According to Kasaija, the launch is a significant milestone in Uganda’s philanthropic landscape, showcasing the power of human kindness and the importance of giving back to the community.
“As the foundation begins its journey, it is clear that it will make a lasting impact on the lives of many, inspiring others to follow in its footsteps,” Kasaija added.
At the event, Kasaija donated 10M Ugx to the foundation’s mission. Over 50 Million Uganda shillings was raised at the launch.
Kasaija is among other generous donors among whom individuals and organizations like Keddi Foundation who donated $5,000, Prime Minister Robina Nabanja 10M Ugx General Muhoozi Kainerugaba 5M Ugx, Minister of Justice 5M Ugx, Buganda Kingdom 1M ugx, Sir Gordon Wavamuno 1M Ugx, General David Muhoozi 1M Ugx, General Henry Matsiko 1M ugx respectively.
Founded by Prof. Kanyeihamba, a renowned author and former Supreme Court Judge, the Foundation aims at promoting education, justice, and human rights in Uganda and beyond.
The event attracted and gathered dignitaries from government, human rights organizations, legal fraternity, students, and civil society representatives.
Kanyeihamba Foundation’s objective is to support marginalized communities, promote access to education and justice, and advocate for human rights through education scholarships, legal aid, and community development projects.
