A seemingly paining Nana Mwafrika seated on a seat in a dock at Buganda Road Court

Nana Annette Mwafrika has on Thursday fell apart and shed tears before Basajabalaba Jalia, Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate while narrating what she termed as degrading, inhumane and abnormal treatment at Luzira prison.

A limping Nana who was brought while being supported told court that; in addition to how badly she was arrested, the human rights violation in Luzira prison is at a high rate caused by both prison officials and some inmates with delegated authorities.

Due to her much much agony on the face and seemingly pain, prison authorities were forced to offer a seat since see couldn’t stand, walk or even support herself.

She further informed court, that one of the inmates was over bleeding and there was no pads to help out and when concerned inmates tried to help out, the prison warders air pulled them in addition to throwing belittling, abusive and obscene words at them.

Much as she had received a none-cash bail of 100,000Ugx, she continued to implore all human rights advocates both locally and internally, to make abrupt visits to the facility to establish the status on claims that, isn’t meant for human beings.

Mweafrika told court that they are forced to share knickers, pad themselves using old used uniforms which puts their right to life in jeopardy since some of her visitors who had brought her clothes were meant to go back minus seeing her.

While shedding tears, Nana told court her fell inmate was oozing mentral blood over her, even when they tried to inform the authories, only insults could be received as assistance than the expected help.

Heart broken Nana further asked court to always make some visits and find-out by themselves.

Nana’s sureties are Amos Nyarwaya, a Geographical System expert and a bother, Mukose Arnold Anthony, and Bikobere Farida all journalists at an online Television known as Digitalk TV and longtime friends have been bound by 200,000Ugx none cash and is meant to report back on August 10, 2024 for mention.

Speaking to the media after court, Counsel Eron Kiiza, the accused lead counsel, expressed dismay over the torture and appealed to the authorities to be humane enough and handle suspects with dignity.
