The Forum for Democratic Change, Najjanankumbi president Hon. Eng. Patrick Oboi AMuriat has Wednesday morning bitterly warned Katonga faction against holding out as party leaders and misleading the public through illegal activities.
While addressing the media at an emergency press conference at Najjanankumbi, termed Lord Mayor Mayor, Erias Lukwago, FDC Founding president Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and other Katonga leaders as Political failures, whose membership is invalid since as per the party records have never renewed their membership after four years.
“These fun makers of Katonga who have for the last four years have not renewed their membership,have no legal locus and authority to make any decisions on the party’s behalf” Amuriat scoffed.
Eng. Amuriat said that, they won’t take Katonga faction actions for a ride and joke, since it doesn’t only mislead the public but also violates the party’s constitution.
Amuriat also laughed at them when he called upon the party members and supporters to wait for the six months the Katonga group announced to dissolve the party, is when they shall know how comedians have turned to be.
Furious Amuriat has further alleged that they have all the evidences to pin Chairman Amb. Birigwa Wasswa at his team to be in collaboration with president Museveni.
It has also been revealed to the public, that, among the issues that have caused problems in FDC, is Besigye and Lukwago demanding at-least 30% share of all the funds the party receives and upon refusal to okay the request, is where the problems begun from.
“Besigye and Lukwago have been asking for 30% of all the funds that we receive and also want to sell the party property so that they can begin their new party, when we refused, we were called all sorts of names” Eng. Amuriat revealed.
He has further said that much as the disgruntled Katonga group talks of unity within opposition, but the quarrels and misunderstandings they have generated only make president Museveni and his leadership happy.
“The quarrels with in opposition give President Yoweri Museveni and his leadership happiness because the more we fight the more they become more stronger” Amuriat added.
“You can now tell who works for Museveni, imagine Lukwago and team vowing that they want the party which has been in existence for over 20 years, many killed, other jailed for its existence and you want it dead, doesn’t it show you who they work for” Eng. Amuriat highlighted.
Amuriat has further assured the party members and supporters across the world that, for as long as he is still the party president, the party is in intact and will do all that it takes to protect the party to remain One Uganda One People in respect and honor for those who died in the struggle including Besigye’s young brother Saazi.
He has also said that, the Katonga faction is just throwing threats with no tangible success and that Lukwago can’t succeed in all his jokes and comedy moves.
On the legality of their said delegates conference held on August 19, 2024 and the the Bugand Court ruling, Najjanankumbi’s Whip in Parliament,Mawokota County South MP, Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi, said that much as he knows Lukwago’s Grades scored at the Law school being hsi former lecturer, nothing can be attained since Justice Musa Ssekana and Justice Esther Nambayo settled all the confusion.
“In regards to the purported delegates conference and leadership positions claimed by my Katonga friend, they should know that Justice Ssekana and Nambayo settled it and much as I know Lukwago well being his former lecturer, I won’t reveal his grade.”
Amuriat further accused the Katonga faction of jealous over their successful countrywide political rallies that have attracted mammoth of crowds.
“They never thought we can pull crowds and our last six successful political rallies have made them jealous and this is because they left good mobilizers at the headquarters: “- Eng. Amuriat bragged.
Amuriat said that, Lukwago’s political is characterized with destroying organizations and has never built anything and he promised in an appropriate time he has promised to apologize to Gen. Muntu over all the allegations and blackmail he suffered as a member of FDC.
When asked about the kind of drastic measures to be taken, Amuriat reluctantly declined to reveals and said, they shall cross the bridge once they reach there.
It should be recalled that misunderstandings with in FDC begun by Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye’s “Museveni Money” allegations that led to the splitter group to assume interim leaderships which recent resolved to dissolve a 20 year old party and establish a new one.
