THE CLAIM
A video posted on TikTok by @faiz0_proctor4 captioned “Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is taking second while Kyagulanyi Sentamu is taking first jab in presidential elections’.
The video has a viewership of 345.4k, 16.1k likes, 1,057 comments, 1,126 bookmarks and 1,110 shares, making it a viral post.

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been Uganda’s president since 1986, whereas Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, who doubles as a musician and a politician, emerged as Uganda’s leading opposition figure, preaching a new Uganda by restoring democracy.
On the 15th January, Ugandans cast their votes for the presidential and parliamentary elections. Upon which the above claim surfaced, claiming that the incumbent, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, is losing to Robert Kyagulanyi. Attaching an NTV news broadcast, to imply that the Nation Media Group broadcasting channel televised the news.
VERIFICATION
Upon verifying the claim, I used Debunk Verifier, a fact-checking website, by inputting the claim statement for first-hand analysis.

The InfoVerifier expert tools indicated and affirmed that the claim is false, as seen in the picture below.

I also conducted a Google reverse image search to locate the source of the claim and the user.

I reviewed the content of the NTV ELECTION BROADCAST of 15th January, 2026, in which a cut-out was made and posted by @faiz0_proctor4. The post portrays Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu as the winner of the presidential elections.

In the video,
- NTV’s anchor is doing a monologue about Uganda’s election day.
- The host is heard urging Ugandans voting a leader who would lead them in the next five years.
- The anchor also mentions presidential candidates who had cast their votes and the polling stations where they voted from
- The anchor mentions candidates who had vied for Uganda’s presidential seat for the second time in Uganda’s electoral processes.
- The anchor later calls in her other colleague, who reports on the voting process in various polling stations.
No statement in the video affirms the claim. The TikTok video of @faiz0_proctor4 holds a statement that disinforms the public about Hon. Kyagulanyi Sentamu taking the lead in the presidential elections.
Using the NTV as the source raises concerns about the accuracy of the information coming from a media house. The claim capitalises on Nation Media’s ability to be critical of the ruling government through its different outlets.
FACTS
Based on the content in the original telecast of NTV ELECTION BROADCAST posted on the NTV Uganda Facebook Page on 15th January, 2026, where the video was cut out, the anchor is heard mentioning candidates who had vied for Uganda’s presidential seat for the second time in Uganda’s electoral processes.
Secondly, all the preliminary results declared by the chairperson of the electoral commission, Justice Simon Byabakama, UBC Television Uganda, affirm that Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was leading the race by a higher percentage than Robert Kyagulanyi.

VERDICT
FALSE: The claim that Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was taking the second position in the presidential elections while Kyagulanyi Sentamu (Bobi Wine) was leading is false, based on official results declared by Electoral Commission chairman Simon Byabakama. Whether it was a fair count remains unverified.
