THE CLAIM
A post made on TikTok by @tashanatasha8 captioned “Our NUP footsoldiers & people power shouldn’t rely on Trump’s military aide to oust the dictator,” David Lewis Rubongoya asserted.

The post, presented as breaking news, claims David Lewis Rubongoya, the secretary general of the National Unity Platform, was quoted in regard to relying on the NUP’s strong supporters, also known as foot soldiers, to oust the sitting Ugandan president, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The claim also implies that there have been previous relations between the NUP supporters and the United States of America’s army that have gone sour, and therefore they are “on their own”.
The post has about 5,711 likes, 145 comments, 637 bookmarks and 883 shares. This kind of virality shows how the public picked up interest in this post and fuels misinformation and disinformation.
David Lewis Rubongoya is a Ugandan lawyer, politician and university lecturer and the secretary general of the National Unity Platform, a duly registered political party under the laws of Uganda since 2020, when the party was founded under the presidency of Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. Currently, the National Unity Platform is the leading independent opposition party in Uganda.
On the other hand, Donald Trump is an American politician, media personality and businessman. He is a member of the Republican Party and currently the 47th president of the United States.
THE VERIFICATION.
The claim that the party’s supporters should not rely on Trump’s aid to remove Museveni from power was subjected to verification, starting with the Infor verifier, an expert fact-checking tool, by inputting the claim statement for first-hand analysis.

Results from the tool indicated and affirmed that the claim is false, as seen in the picture below.

Upon verifying the claim, I was able to review the content of GHETTO TV BROADCAST on YouTube of 4th February, 2026, in which a claim was made and posted by @tashanatasha8. The post claims that David Lewis Rubongoya instructed NUP foot soldiers and people power not to rely on Trump’s military aid to oust President Museveni, whom they termed a dictator, from power.

Hon. David Lewis Rubongoya addressing the public at NUP headquarters – Makerere Kavule
In the video, Hon. Lewis Rubongoya’s speech was both in English and Luganda languages;
1. David Lewis Rubongoya started off by congratulating leaders in the party upon securing victory on various positions in the recently concluded general elections. He cited that their numbers would’ve been bigger if it weren’t for violence.
2. In the middle of his speech, he invited one of the party leaders to paint a picture of what happened in his polling area.
In his speech, he affirms to the public that their party president is alive, although not well.
3. He later continues his speech, addressing the irregularities they encountered in the 2026 general elections, citing the party’s stand on presidential and parliamentary results. Advises members who are not content with the results to go to court to seek justice.
4. In his speech, he talks about party leaders who were incarcerated during the electoral season.
5. He concludes his speech with a message, “… olutalo lukyagenda mu maaso…” meaning (the fight continues). nothing about the fight he talked about translated into a war and coup. He then invited Hon. Harriet Nakwedde Kafero, elected Woman Member of Parliament for Kayunga district, as the next speaker.
No statement in the video affirms the claim. The false TikTok post by @tashanatasha8 holds a statement that misleads the public about David Lewis Rubongoya, the Secretary General of the National Unity Platform (NUP), instructing NUP foot soldiers & people power not to rely on Trump’s military aide to oust President Museveni from power.
As a means to gather more information about U.S. military relations with NUP, I conducted a Google search online about the claim, “Our NUP footsoldiers & people power shouldn’t rely on Trump’s military aide to oust the dictator,” David Lewis Rubongoya asserted. “No results containing all your search items were found. ” The photo below speaks to it.

Furthermore, I did an account background check of the platform that posted the claim.
The claim was published by a TikTok account Tasha7 of He Bobi Wine . Tasha is a trichologist and author. The account shares the latest political updates of Bobi Wine, NUP and Global News and has a following of 96,346 followers and 704.2k likes, as seen in the picture below.

The posting history of Tasha7 of He Bobi Wine shows that the page frequently posts/publishes unverified and misleading claims, particularly concerning NUP leaders, political events, and global news events. Many posts on this account contain inaccurate information, claims and exaggerated headlines without supporting evidence. The account has a record of spreading misleading content, which raises concerns about its reliability as a source of factual information.
FACTS
Based on the content in the original broadcast of GHETTO TV BROADCAST of 4th February 2026, where a false post was made, David Lewis Rubongoya, the Secretary General of the National Unity Platform (NUP), never talks about any foreign military aid, nor does he mention ousting President Museveni from power. The post was fabricated. We also conducted a Google search about the U.S. military relations with NUP, and no information links to the claim, according to the image below.

VERDICT
FABRICATED: The claim, ‘Our foot soldiers & people power shouldn’t rely on Trump’s military aide to oust the dictator,’ is false. A review of primary sources, including David Lewis Rubongoya’s verified speech, found no evidence that such a statement was made.
