As the current leadership of Uganda Law Council, ULS, term elapses on September 27, 2025, several advocates have expressed interest to contest for different positions, and the main position is the presidency, which Eron Kiiza has decided to contest for.
In a bid to intensify his pursuit for the position, Eron has initiated countrywide consultative engagements with advocates (voters) on how best the society can #UnchainTheBar.
On Monday, September 8, 2025, with his entourage, Eron endured a heavy pour to receive a warm welcome and extensive discussion with the Masaka Lawyer’s leadership headed by Lule Alexander, who talked about the shortage of judicial officers, limited court spaces and backlogs as some of the major challenges in his jurisdiction.

From Masaka, Eron headed to Mbarara and Bushenyi, where he was endorsed on the basis of his ardent fight against injustices and the brave overthrow of the General Court Martial.
After day one of the consultations, he proceeded to Kasese and Fortportal.
In the Rwenzururu land, lawyers and citizens were excited to see him (Eron Kiiza), for fighting for their rights rooting as far as 2013, when he represented several residents during the court martial trials as well as representing HRH Charles Wesley Mumbere and his co-accuseds (200 suspects) in regard to the 2016 UPDF palace attacks.
In what seemed like a homecoming for their lawyer, the Kasese residents rejoiced with welcome back placards to welcome back Eron from Kitalya Government Prison.

While responding to questions from the Kasese bar, Eron reaffirmed his commitment and willingness to continue standing his ground.
“I have been an indefatigable defender of lawyers’ welfare, young lawyers’ rights,
human dignity, women rights, the rule of law, social justice, bar autonomy, judicial
autonomy, public interest, and the rights of the oppressed. I have stood for ––and I
continue to defend––lawyers, journalists, writers, farmers, women, youth, detainees, evictees, and other vulnerable voices.” Eron assured the bar.
He further reassured voters (lawyers) that his candidature seeks to redirect the bar back to its role of transforming society.

Running under the hashtag #UchaingTheBar, Eron reassured voters (lawyers) that he aims at breaking the judicial, political, and economic chains.
“Expect a robust, dignified, and unrelenting defence of our rights and the public
interest as, together, we unchain the bar from the regulatory, judicial, political, and economic chains that continue to steal our dreams, damn our efforts, and dash our hopes,” Eron reassured.
As he continues to traverse the country, ULS leadership is still facing internal political disagreements between the secretariat led by Secretary, Philip Munaabi, and President Isaac Ssemakadde over whether or not the elections are to be held as they wait for the Supreme Court decisions to resolve the illegality of the previous blocked annual general meeting.
