George Nkurunziza and Deogracious Opio are the Ugandan referees who woke up on Friday morning, with sad news of their ban by the global football governing body, Federation of International Football Association (FIFA)over match fixing.
The ban not only stopped on the referees but also several players fell victims over the same.
The players include Saleh Maganda from Calvary FC, Franco Oringa of Northern Gateway, Godfrey Lwesibawa, Yahaya Mahad Kakooza and Andrew Waiswa all at Gadaffi FC.
World Football governing body, FIFA has extended worldwide sanctions on Ugandan players and referees who had earlier been suspended by FUFA in 2023 for engaging in match manipulation.
Refrees, Nkurunziza and Opio were earlier suspended by Uganda National football governing body, the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) which ban has been effected and extended to the world level with immediate effect.
According to FUFA official website, each player was handed a five year ban while the referees on the other hand will serve a ten-year ban per person.
As we post now, each suspended person has received his official communication by FIFA and FUFA
