The fighting erupted when the guarding team of General Akol Koor Kuc, the former South Sudan’s former spy chief, tried to block arrest by the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF).

The arrest was after unwritten order issued by president Salva Kiir Mayadit, accused him |(Akol) over allegations of plotting an unsuccessful coup.

Much as some reports say, Gen. Akol is dead but some reliable sources dismiss the allegations but rather confirm the arrest and detention at Bilpam, the headquarters of the army headquarters.

One of the military officials involved in the operation said, that Akol was detained after intense fighting that reportedly left dozens of his soldiers killed or injured.

Much as the would be an official statement can’t of now be verified, but some sources say, Gen. Akol’s whereabouts were unknown when hostilities broke out at his residence.

It isn’t yet confirmed that whether he sustained injuries or he was killed, during the confrontation.

Eyewitnesses reported that gunfire in the area had subsided by late morning. A traffic jam formed around the Seventh-Day Roundabout near Akol’s residence as panicked drivers abandoned their vehicles in the wake of the violence.
